OConnor and others55 found that the addition of an explicit values clarification exercise in a PtDA did not improve agreement between values and the chosen option. There was statistically significant heterogeneity when PtDAs were compared with usual care for 4 outcomes knowledge test scores, realistic risk perceptions, feeling uninformed, and feeling unclear regarding personal values (Table 3).
